Summer Simmer Pot Recipe: Citrus + Vanilla

share:

It Smells Like Summer Around Here

Remember Potpourri? AH, this is a much prettier and better smelling option! I love a home that smells like Summer. You know that light, fresh, juicy scent that instantly boosts your mood? That’s where my Summer simmer pot comes in. It’s my favorite way to make the house feel refreshed without lighting a single candle. And it’s so easy to make, no fancy tools required, just a dutch oven pot and your stovetop!

What’s the point of a simmer pot?

I’ll fill you in…think of a simmer pot like nature’s air freshener. It gently steams out the prettiest scents into your home without any toxins, sprays, or synthetic perfumes. Plus, it’s totally customizable depending on the season or your mood. For Summer, I’m loving all the citrusy, sun-soaked vibes with a soft touch of vanilla.

How long should you let it simmer?

I usually let mine go for about 1 to 2 hours, keeping an eye on the water level. If it gets too low, just add more water as needed. The citrus and vanilla will slowly release the dreamiest scent, like Summer in a pot.

How do you discard a simmer pot?

After the water’s evaporated or you’re done enjoying it, let it cool completely. Then you can strain the fruit and discard it in the trash. Easy cleanup and no waste hanging out on your stovetop!

This is truly one of my favorite non-toxic ways to freshen up our home during the warmer months. And the best part? It looks just as pretty simmering away as it smells!
