Remember Potpourri? AH, this is a much prettier and better smelling option! I love a home that smells like Summer. You know that light, fresh, juicy scent that instantly boosts your mood? That’s where my Summer simmer pot comes in. It’s my favorite way to make the house feel refreshed without lighting a single candle. And it’s so easy to make, no fancy tools required, just a dutch oven pot and your stovetop!
I’ll fill you in…think of a simmer pot like nature’s air freshener. It gently steams out the prettiest scents into your home without any toxins, sprays, or synthetic perfumes. Plus, it’s totally customizable depending on the season or your mood. For Summer, I’m loving all the citrusy, sun-soaked vibes with a soft touch of vanilla.
I usually let mine go for about 1 to 2 hours, keeping an eye on the water level. If it gets too low, just add more water as needed. The citrus and vanilla will slowly release the dreamiest scent, like Summer in a pot.
What I’m wearing: Maxi Dress / Sandals
If you’re looking to upgrade your simmer pot setup, I’ve got you covered! Whether you want something sleek and modern or a classic ceramic pot that keeps the warmth in, I’ve linked a few of my go-to finds below. These make the whole experience even prettier and hey, they make great gifts too!
I use this cast iron, it’s durable, I’ve cooked so many dishes in it and I just love the quality, worth the price if you plan on using this for all kinds of purposes and want it to last. But you can find this smaller + affordable one or a glass one too!
After the water’s evaporated or you’re done enjoying it, let it cool completely. Then you can strain the fruit and discard it in the trash. Easy cleanup and no waste hanging out on your stovetop!
This is truly one of my favorite non-toxic ways to freshen up our home during the warmer months. And the best part? It looks just as pretty simmering away as it smells!
Simmer pots are perfect for so many occasions! I love making them when guests are coming over, during weekend cleaning days, or anytime I want to refresh the energy in our home. They’re also great for setting the mood before a cozy date night at home or winding down after a long day. Basically, any time you want your space to feel extra warm, inviting, and seasonal, it’s simmer pot time!
