Giving my IKEA dresser a fresh look was both fun and simple! I started by choosing a chic color to repaint the dresser, opting for a soft, neutral tone that complements my room’s decor. I then swapped out the original hardware with elegant, modern handles, instantly elevating the dresser’s appearance.
You don’t have to spend big bucks to get the higher end look of a dresser. IKEA has natural wood dressers to purchase, paint and makeover! I had recently gotten sick of my IKEA makeover I did a few years ago and I’ve been completely obsessed with this moody blue hue I’m seeing everywhere!
First, I sanded down the dresser a bit on the corner and face of the cabinets. Removed the knobs, and went to spray painting! Now, before I added my Midnight Blue color, I painted the entire dresser with a soft gray, just to keep it all one color in a base so that when I went to spray paint the blue, it would be less paint to use in covering certain spots. You don’t have to do this, so skip if you must ha!
I sprayed two coats of Satin Midnight Blue by Rust-Oleum, two bottles should do the trick if your dresser is about this size, of course more if larger. Once it was dry, let it dry for about 2 hours in low humidity room or outdoors – I grabbed by knobs!
This is my favorite part, something about adding the new knobs just gave it the final touch! I chose champagne bronze pulls, purchased 6 of them!
Friends, that’s it! Once those knobs were on, and everything was dried, it’s all done. Such an easy project to do one one day and made a huge difference!
