If your skin feels more sensitive, reactive, or just off lately, you’re not alone especially over 40. Finding non-toxic skincare for sensitive skin over 40 can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. I’m all about a simple, clean skincare routine that supports aging skin without irritation, like gentle, effective products that actually feel good on your skin and in your daily life. Choosing nontoxic skincare can be a game changer for comfort and confidence as you age.

I’m not in my 20’s anymore, and I’m not going to act like my skin is either. That’s why I’ve turned to the products I’m sharing in this post as a solution for my needs.

Something happened after 35, and I’m sure it was hormonal changes but my legs started to get dry nonstop, my facial lines and wrinkles started to make a permanent home on my face and well, as a woman we know how these small shifts can easily turn into a bigger insecurities as we start “aging”. Ooof.

How Perimenopause Affects Your Skin

Perimenopause symptoms are real, and our skin is often the first to tell us something’s shifting. As estrogen levels start to fluctuate, your skin produces less collagen, which can lead to fine lines, dryness, and loss of firmness. You may also notice your skin becoming more sensitive, reactive, or easily irritated, even if you’ve never dealt with that before. That’s why prioritizing nontoxic skincare during these changes is a smart move to support your skin health.

And sure, some may say…”just get Botox or fillers”, no shade towards women who choose to do that, but before hitting the injectables, I’m more interested in trying products that can naturally work with my body and are good for me in the long run.

That being said, you definitely need to be more picky with your products, sometimes spend a little more than buying that cheap stuff you did in your 20’s! You need products that calm not overwhelming your skin.

Healthy Routines to be Mindful of

Drink water consistently – Sounds simple, but aim for half your body weight in ounces daily. Call me basic but my Stanley keeps my drinking water all day.
Moisturize right after showering – Lock in moisture while your skin is still damp.
Get good fats – Eat things like avocado, salmon, flax – your skin loves them. Look into Fatty15, I take this supplement and there’s so many great benefits to it!
Prioritize sleep – Your skin heals and regenerates while you sleep. Women need 7-9 hours every night! Try to go to bed around the same time every night, your body loves routine and so will your hormones, metabolism and adrenals.
Wear clean sunscreen – Those over the counter sunscreens are filled with bad ingredients, try this one Grass-Fed Tallow which is a natural mineral sunscreen.
