A Small but Stylish Master Room
When we moved into our 1950s home, one of the biggest blessings (and design challenges) was the master bedroom add-on. It’s cozy, charming – and on the smaller side! That meant we had to get intentional with every design choice, including selecting the ideal Earthy Coastal Bedding, to make the space feel open, calm, and reflective of our earthy coastal style.
Our Before
This is how the previous owners had it, I snapped this while we were walking through the open house. I had already started my engines on design, ha!
After we moved in…and unpacking.
Creating an Earthy Coastal Vibe
We wanted the master to feel like a breath of fresh air. Think soft neutrals, layered textures, and subtle coastal details. The bedding set the tone for the entire space – earthy coastal bedding in creams, whites, and soft sand tones brought in that dreamy “sleep sanctuary” feel we were going for. I added light linen curtains and a darker jute rug that pulled everything together while keeping things light and breathable.
Small But Mighty Furniture
Fitting a king-sized bed in a smaller space definitely comes with challenges. We had to skip the oversized furniture and instead hunted down small nightstands that gave us storage without taking up precious inches. The key was choosing pieces with open bottoms or legs to keep the room from feeling heavy or cramped.
Soft, Neutral, and Inviting
From the bedding to the lamps to the wall decor, we kept everything in a soft, natural palette. White, beige, muted blues and grays, and warm wood tones helped reflect light and make the room feel more spacious. It’s amazing how going lighter and airier with textures and colors can totally transform a space!
