The Charleston Aesthetic

If you love history, pastel-hued streets, and a city that feels like a living Pinterest board, then Charleston, South Carolina, is calling your name! This charming coastal city is packed with stunning architecture, cobblestone streets, and the kind of Southern hospitality that makes you want to stay forever. Plus, it’s been made even more famous by the hit show Southern Charm, which perfectly captures Charleston’s mix of elegance, tradition, and a little drama.

Recently, I had the chance to explore Charleston and, of course, brought my camera along to capture its dreamy charm. From the iconic Rainbow Row to the delicious pastries at Sugar Bakeshop, this city is a paradise for anyone who loves beauty, history, and incredible food. Let’s dive into my ultimate guide to spending a perfect weekend in Charleston!

My Photography from the Holy City

Charleston is one of those cities where every corner is photo-worthy, and I couldn’t help but capture its magic. One of my favorite spots? Rainbow Row, a stretch of 13 pastel-painted historic homes along East Bay Street that look like they belong in a storybook. If you love charming facades and old-world charm, this is a must-see. The colorful buildings are bathed in gorgeous light in the morning, making it the perfect time to visit and snap a few dreamy shots.

Another gem? Sugar Bakeshop, a small but delightful bakery that serves up the most delicious cupcakes and cookies in the cutest, vintage-style setting. It’s a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth and an eye for aesthetics!

Where to Eat – 5 Must-Try Restaurants

Charleston is a food lover’s paradise, and whether you’re looking for fresh seafood, Southern comfort food, or a trendy café, this city has it all. Here are five spots you won’t want to miss:

1. 167 Raw (Lunch/Dinner) – If you love fresh seafood, this is the place to go. Their lobster roll is legendary, and their oysters are a must-try.

2. Husk (Dinner) – One of Charleston’s most famous restaurants, Husk is all about elevated Southern cuisine. Their menu changes daily, but expect incredible flavors and a gorgeous setting.

3. Poogan’s Porch (Brunch/Lunch) – A Charleston classic, this charming restaurant is set in a historic home and serves up the best buttermilk biscuits and shrimp & grits.

4. The Darling Oyster Bar (Dinner) – This trendy seafood spot is perfect for a stylish night out. Order a dozen oysters and their famous lobster & crab roll.

5. Basic Kitchen (Lunch) – If you’re in the mood for something fresh and healthy, this bright and airy café offers delicious salads, bowls, and refreshing cocktails.

A Weekend Well Spent

Beyond the food and photography, Charleston offers so many ways to experience its unique charm. Spend your mornings wandering the historic French Quarter, take a carriage ride through the city’s oldest streets, and shop for unique finds at the Charleston City Market. If you love the show Southern Charm, you’ll recognize a few familiar locations around town!

Charleston is the perfect getaway for a stylish and relaxing weekend. Whether you’re indulging in Lowcountry cuisine, snapping photos of historic homes, or soaking in the Southern charm, this city is pure magic. I hope my photography and guide inspire you to book your trip!
