AM Living: DIY Watercolor inspired pillow covers!

Time to spruce up any room, this DIY pillow case is super easy and adds a hand-drawn touch to any home! Now, don’t be intimated by the brush! You don’t have to be Picasso to create a fun pillow case, I just researched some floral drawings I liked online for inspiration and started from there! Get messy with it, it’s all supposed to be fun! This is a great project to do with your girlfriends too, add some bubbly in the mix and you’ve got yourself a fun gals night in!

Materials you will need:
(2) White pillow case from IKEA ( I used the Gurli 50×50 cm )
(2) 11 3/4 x 8 in x 4 3/4 cardboard box flattened from Hobby Lobby
(1) Watercolor 6 color paint set by Art Advantage from Hobby Lobby
A paint holder and some brushes

Buy however many pillow cases you want to paint! First, I inserted my cardboard box into my pillow case, as you begin to paint the watercolor will seep through, so make sure your cardboard is covered underneath the points of where your brush will be hitting!

This is the fun part, start drawing! You can create fun strokes, floral, greenery, etc! I mixed some of my colors with white to make the tones lighter or with more to make bolder. The key to the “watercolor” look on fabric is to let the brush contain more liquid rather than paint.  Don’t completely fill out each drawing by leaving non-painted areas clear to achieve that watercolor look. See below!

Let your pillow case dry for about 2 hours! Then insert your pillow into the case! Place your sweet creation in a perfect spot in your office, bedroom, living room or wherever! Ooo-lala you have yourself an adorable addition!

*Please note, cases should not be washed

Real Wedding: Connor + Victoria

December closed with a stunning couple and wedding I must say! I love weddings or events held at the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs located in the heart of Winter Park! The greenery surrounding and open crisp air made it a night of dancing under the stars and gorgeous memories. I loved designing this wedding, the open family style seating and the bold and bright color palette! It was a joy to coordinate. Enjoy some of my favorites taken below!

Travel: Colorado

When I dream, I dream of nature surrounding me. What a beautiful place to breath in the fresh air, hear nothing but the trees speaking and visual eye candy everywhere. I loved visiting Colorado this week and what a beautiful time for it. Hiked a decent 3 mile upward trailhead in Estes Park at the Rocky Mountain National Park! Talk about some elevation while working out, worth the Lake view though! I lucked out on perfect cool temps! Here are some #iphone7plus shots I took while adventuring, oh wilderness, I heart you!

Real Wedding: Sara + Chris

What a sweet couple! Sara and Chris met at college many years ago.  The two reconnected a couple years ago and knew that this was it.  Sara is a frenchie lover, so of course Chris put together a proposal with a brand new french bulldog puppy Oliver, who is more then spoiled these days. Sara was a bride that knew right away the style she wanted so she was elated when her Mom and sister found Bridle Oaks in Deland.  Tucked away is this little gem surrounded by beautiful trees, and beautiful barn, and the most amazing ceremony location. A beautiful simple bouquet of roses, her fiancé used to surprise her with deliveries of orange roses.  Check out those mismatched vintage glasses and plates!  Chris’s grandma and mother brought some of there dinnerware to be used which was so very special. Congrats again and enjoy!

Spiced Apple Cider Cocktail for the Season!

I made this easy yet tasty spiced apple cocktail last week at one of my workshops and it was such a hit that I had to share it. Perfect to sip with cheese and crackers or with your Thanksgiving dinner. Here’s the recipe!

1 spiced apple cider jug ( any brand is fine )
1 Welch’s sparking grape juice bottle
1 cup of orange juice
1 bag of cranberries
1 orange (sliced)
Add ice, mix, chill for an hour and serve!

If you want to turn this into an adult beverage, I recommend adding some rum of your choice to the batch right before serving!

Real Wedding: Jessica + Jacob

Jessica and Jacob were one of the kindest couples. I had the pleasure of designing her dream woodsy wedding. From our first meeting at the Ocala National Forrest with Jessica, her parents and grandmother, there was complete comfort level of appreciation to design and style. I knew she was MY bride! I absolutely fell in love with the earthy and green vibe Jessica wanted created for her dream wedding and I was thrilled to take it on! From lush greenery bouquets bursting with eucalyptus, to a long candlelit family style dinner, what a beautiful night it was. Thank you to the very talented Joel Allegretto for capturing the love and all the details of this special day! Please take a look at some of my favorite moments below.
